This tutorial describes how to connect your Ledger wallet Bitcoin (BTC) account to the Bitcoin network using Sparrow Wallet. Check out the Sparrow documentation to learn more about the app and its features.
Before You Start
Update Ledger Setup:
Ensure Ledger Live and your Ledger device are running the latest apps and software. Learn more.
Install Bitcoin (BTC) App:
Confirm that the Bitcoin (BTC) app is installed on your Ledger device.
Connect Your Ledger Wallet to Sparrow
Download and Install Sparrow:
Go to Sparrow Wallet and click Download.
Select the correct installation package for your OS, download it, and install it on your computer.
Open Sparrow and Connect Ledger:
Open Sparrow Wallet.
Open the Bitcoin app on your Ledger device. Your Ledger screen should display: Bitcoin is ready.
Create a New Wallet:
In Sparrow, select File > New Wallet.
Name your wallet and select Create Wallet.
Select Account Type:
Choose the account type (e.g., Native Segwit or Taproot).
Connect Hardware Wallet:
Click Connect Hardware Wallet.
Scan and Import Keystore:
Ensure the Bitcoin app is open on your Ledger device, then click Scan….
Click Import Keystore.
Click Apply.
Set Up Password:
Choose and confirm a password or click No Password to skip that step. Setting a password enhances the privacy and security of your account.
Access Your Ledger Bitcoin Account:
Your Ledger Bitcoin account should now appear in Sparrow Wallet.
Navigate to the Transactions tab to view your transaction history.
If you can’t see your transaction history, ensure Sparrow is connected to a block explorer by clicking the button located at the bottom right corner of the application and toggling it.
Manage Your BTC Funds:
Use the Send or Receive tabs to manage BTC funds in your account.
